To paint is an exciting and challenging journey A journey, not only in the present time and around the world but within yourself – in ones ability, will power and courage to express ones needs and wishes. Humans or the human being I hardly ever paint specific persons. What interests me is to try to capture the human being; what binds us together and to give the viewers a chance to weave their own emotions and experiences into my images.

About
I paint in oil. The choices of motif are simple shapes in a diffuse reality; tranquility and tension meet. I am attracted to the bold beauty of ugliness; people, landscapes, horses, houses and diverse objects. Nothing is perfect. Originally, I am a psychologist and for many years now I have worked as a consultant within recruitment and leadership development. In 1994, I started to paint. After various courses in drawing, life-drawing, and painting I studied privately with the artist, Åke Arph between 1995-2008. With Åke’s help I have been able to find my base and my artistic expression. Through self-study and many travels, mainly to New York and the western parts of the US, I have also gained knowledge and inspiration that has led me further in my development. From seeming like two separate worlds, today psychology and painting are blending together to form a whole. I explore the human condition and what happens in our identities and relationships. With the brush I capture the nuances of our existence. No life is purely simple or purely complicated. No relationship is the solution to our searching. That is why I keep on painting.

10 Questions and answers
WHO ARE YOU? If we begin with my professional life, I am an artist, consultant, business owner and psychologist. I am also a Finland-Swede and that is important to my identity. As a person I am driven and persistent. It is important for me to move forward in my development; that I spend time doing things that make a difference. There are always new things coming along that I want to do or learn about. I don’t have to do this in giant steps, but preferably in small steps instead of just standing still. I see possibilities instead of obstacles. And I care very much about the people I am close to – being with them and longing after them when they are someplace else. WHAT INSPIRES YOU? I don’t always know; probably everything. I don’t feel that I have to be conscious of it. It can be something that comes along when I least expect it and something totally spontaneous: a dog, a dream, colors I see when I close my eyes, a barren landscape, people, a day in New York, art, music, emptiness, something that someone says or something I read… Life. I also get inspired by what…

Here´s a short film that was shown on Finnish TV (FST), spring 2010. In the interview I´m talking about the combination of art and consulting business in my company and about being ”Finnish-Swedish”. Movie made by Joakim Haldin, Haldin Communication.
